Hello everyone.  First I want to thank you all for your trust and confidence in me to serve as your 2020 NJLJ President.  I am truly humbled (although never speechless).

This year will be very exciting and busy for our organization.  Our Legislative Committee will be getting geared up for the 2021 Session and will be attending interim legislative committee meetings to keep apprised of what is moving and shaking for next session.  The Board will be working with the AOC to implement the Peer Mentoring Program that Judge Kearns discussed at our Winter Seminar at the Aliante.  And of course, Judge Goicoechea (“Choch”) and the AOC are making some great plans for our Summer Seminar in Elko.

You will probably be getting some intermittent emails from me regarding the NJLJ website (http://www.njlj.org).   Judge Tiras and I are trying to encourage the members to utilize the website because it has many little-known but helpful tools of the trade.    One of our goals for the website this year is to add to it the materials from recent seminars.  If you are at all like me, you might have a legal issue come up and think, “I know we had a presentation on this issue at NJLJ in the last few years, and I remember it was in Ely” – but you can’t seem to put your finger on the materials.  We are hoping to solve that problem and get all of the recent materials on the website so it can be one-stop shopping.

If you have any questions at all or better yet have any suggestions for our organization – big or small – please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email or phone.    The best way I describe our organization to others is that our members are “sponges for knowledge.”   Let’s keep soakin’ it up as we get through 2020!

Sincerely,

Judge Diana Sullivan

President 2020
